PUERTO DEL CARMEN ROAD CLOSURES: NOVEMBER TREE MAINTENANCE WORKS TO BRING EARLY-MORNING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

The Ayuntamiento de Tías carries out scheduled tree-care treatments that will temporarily affect traffic and parking on several streets. The municipal programme is intended to support the health and upkeep of urban trees. The works are scheduled on nine mornings between 4 and 20 November, with restrictions expected from 6:30am to 8:30am. During the treatment period, the affected sections will be closed to traffic and parking, and will remain restricted until officials confirm they can reopen.

WHICH STREETS WILL BE AFFECTED?

The published schedule groups the work into three sets of dates: • Wednesday 4, 11 and 18 November: sections between Pedro Barba and Palangre, and between Palangre and Tanausú. • Thursday 5, 12 and 19 November: sections between Tanausú and Guanapay, and between Guanapay and Acatife. • Friday 6, 13 and 20 November: sections between Chalana and Pedro Barba, Frankfurt and Chalana, and Italia and Frankfurt. The restrictions are temporary and apply to the signed work areas. Drivers should follow local traffic signs and any instructions from staff, rather than assuming a route is open because a nearby street remains accessible.

PARKING AND TERRACE PRECAUTIONS

Drivers are asked to move vehicles from the affected sections before work begins. The restriction is intended to prevent vehicles and other property from being exposed to the products used during the treatments. The council has also asked bars, cafés, restaurants and shops in the work areas to remove or properly protect items that could be affected. This includes terrace tables and chairs, awnings, parasols, displays, signs, decorative items and other belongings beneath or close to the trees being treated.

WHAT SHOULD VISITORS AND RESIDENTS DO?

If you are staying in Puerto del Carmen, commuting locally or collecting a hire car early in the morning, allow a little extra time on the listed dates. Check the street signs before parking overnight, and consider using an alternative route if your journey normally passes through one of the affected sections. The restrictions are limited to the stated morning work windows, but reopening depends on the work area being cleared and authorised. For the latest local updates, check the Ayuntamiento de Tías’ official announcements and follow instructions posted on site.

WHY IS THE WORK TAKING PLACE?

The treatments form part of the municipality’s maintenance of its public trees. Healthy urban greenery contributes to the character and comfort of Puerto del Carmen, providing shade and enhancing streets used by residents, businesses and visitors. The council says the work is necessary to help preserve the condition of the town’s trees, while acknowledging that the short-term restrictions may cause some inconvenience. With a little advance planning, most journeys should be able to continue around the affected areas. The key dates to remember are 4–6, 11–13 and 18–20 November, with works scheduled each morning from 6:30am to 8:30am.
