March is a lovely time here on Lanzarote, as the island gently moves from the mildness of winter into the first hints of spring. Days grow warmer, often reaching towards 20°C, and the rain begins to ease off, leaving the landscape fresh and green. It is one of those special months when you can enjoy the best of both worlds: warm enough for a day at the beach, yet still cool and comfortable for walking or exploring the island’s quieter corners. The pace is unhurried, and with fewer visitors than in summer, it feels like you have the island almost to yourself.
Occasionally, Easter arrives in March, bringing with it a brief flurry of visitors and the beautiful Semana Santa processions that fill the streets with tradition and colour. Apart from this lively week, March is a peaceful month, with excellent value on accommodation and very few queues anywhere you go.

At this time of year, we usually enjoy pleasantly warm days, with temperatures reaching between 19 and 22°C and around seven hours of sunshine to brighten the island. Rain becomes less common, though you might still feel the occasional light shower passing through.

Spring Flowers and Green Landscapes

March is, in my view, one of the most beautiful times to be here on Lanzarote. The hills behind Haria turn a vibrant green, and wildflowers brighten the roadsides, creating a striking contrast with the black volcanic landscape. In La Geria, the vineyards begin to wake up, with fresh leaves appearing inside their unique stone circles. If you enjoy capturing the island’s natural beauty, this is a wonderful month to do it.
Things to do in Lanzarote in March
March is a wonderful time to get outdoors here, with gentle temperatures perfect for walking or cycling through the island’s unique landscapes. If you set out early, Timanfaya National Park is especially beautiful in the morning light. Spring brings a fresh green to little La Graciosa, making a boat trip across the water a real treat. The sea is clear for diving, and on calm days, there’s nothing quite like paddling a kayak along the Papagayo coast, taking in the quiet beauty of Lanzarote from the water.
