November is officially our wettest month here, but with just 17mm of rain, it hardly compares to what you might expect in northern Europe. The temperatures settle into a gentle 21 to 23 degrees, and this is when Lanzarote’s green season truly comes alive. Hillsides that seemed bare in the summer months are now dotted with fresh grasses and wildflowers, giving the island a softer, more vibrant feel. It’s a lovely transformation that locals look forward to every year.

With fewer visitors around, November feels like Lanzarote’s best-kept secret. If you appreciate peace, authenticity and a slower pace, this is a wonderful time to visit. The island takes on a more local, relaxed atmosphere, and you might just find yourself enjoying favourite spots as if they were your own.

What to Expect from the Weather in Lanzarote in November

Days here are usually mild, with temperatures settling comfortably between 21 and 23°C and around six hours of sunshine to enjoy. As evening falls, things cool down to a gentle 16 or 17°C, perfect for a stroll along the promenade.

Rain is rare and tends to arrive in short, sometimes heavy showers that quickly give way to blue skies again. The sea remains inviting at 20 to 21°C, making it a lovely time for a swim. Now and then, an Atlantic storm might bring a bit more wind, but long spells of bad weather are unusual on our island.

The Green Island

November shows you Lanzarote's other side. The arid summer island becomes surprisingly lush after the autumn rains. Green moss on black lava, yellow wildflowers against red volcanic soil. The valley of Haria, already known as the "valley of a thousand palms," turns properly verdant. If you're a photographer or nature lover, this is one of the most rewarding months to visit.

Things to Do in Lanzarote in November

November is one of those special months on Lanzarote when the island seems to slow down and breathe. The weather is gentle, the crowds have thinned, and there’s a peacefulness that makes it a favourite time for many of us who live here. Surfers gather at Famara Beach to make the most of the Atlantic swells, and if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at surfing, this is a great time to give it a go.

The dive schools are less busy too, so you can enjoy more personal attention as you discover the volcanic reefs just off our shores. Cyclists and walkers will find the cooler air perfect for exploring the coastal paths or heading into the volcanic heart of Timanfaya and La Geria, where the autumn light brings out the landscape's colours. A catamaran trip to La Graciosa is especially peaceful now, with its quiet beaches and laid-back charm. For something a little different, buggy tours and submarine safaris offer a fun way to see the island from a new perspective.

If you’re in the mood for a taste of local culture, November is a lovely time to wander through Lanzarote artisan markets or visit the historic towns of Teguise, Yaiza and Haria, which feel even more authentic at this time of year.
