Saturday Planning Ahead in Lanzarote
Lanzarote is the perfect island for a relaxed yet adventurous Saturday, offering a mix of volcanic landscapes, local culture, incredible beaches, seafood, and sunset nightlife. If you want to experience the very best of the island in one day, this itinerary gives you the ideal balance of sightseeing, food, and relaxation.
Start your Saturday morning at Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote’s most famous natural attraction. The dramatic lava fields, volcanic craters, and blackened landscapes feel almost like another planet. Arriving early helps you avoid queues and the midday heat. While there, you can take the volcanic route tour, watch geothermal demonstrations, and even enjoy a camel ride across the lava fields. The scenic drive through the park is one of the highlights of the island and perfect for photographs.

After exploring the volcanoes, head north to the village of Haría to visit the Saturday market. This charming palm-filled village has a much more authentic atmosphere than some of the busier tourist areas. The market is full of local crafts, handmade jewellery, Lanzarote wines, cheeses, aloe vera products, and traditional Canarian snacks. It’s the perfect place to slow down, grab a coffee, and experience local island life.
For lunch, drive to the beautiful coastal village of El Golfo on Lanzarote’s west coast. Famous for its seafood restaurants and ocean views, El Golfo is one of the best places on the island for a long relaxed lunch. Try fresh grilled fish, octopus, papas arrugadas with mojo sauce, and local white wine produced from Lanzarote’s volcanic vineyards. After eating, take a short walk to the nearby Green Lagoon, one of Lanzarote’s most photographed natural attractions.

In the afternoon, spend some time relaxing at the stunning Papagayo Beaches in the south of the island. Known for their turquoise water and golden sand, these beaches are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing in the sunshine. The calm water and dramatic cliffs make Papagayo one of the most beautiful beach areas in the Canary Islands.
As the sun begins to set, head to Puerto del Carmen for the evening. The marina and promenade come alive on Saturday nights with restaurants, cocktail bars, live music, and a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy a sunset drink overlooking the ocean, wander along the waterfront, or settle into a tapas restaurant for dinner. Puerto del Carmen is also one of the best nightlife spots on the island if you want to continue your evening late into the night.

If you have extra time or want alternative ideas for your Saturday, Lanzarote also offers incredible attractions such as Jameos del Agua, the vineyards of La Geria, surfing in Famara, the César Manrique Foundation, or a ferry trip to the nearby island of La Graciosa.
