Lanzarote Karting

Go karting is one of those activities that seems to bring out the smiles in just about everyone, whether you are keen to challenge your own lap times or simply want to give the children a holiday memory they will talk about long after you return home. Here on Lanzarote, we are lucky to have a real outdoor karting circuit at Lanzarote Karting, right in the heart of the island in San Bartolome.

If you’re looking for an activity that combines excitement, family fun and a little friendly competition, Lanzarote Karting deserves a place on your Lanzarote itinerary. Suitable for all ages and experience levels, it’s an attraction that appeals just as much to families with young children as it does to groups of friends, couples and those celebrating birthdays or special occasions.

The karts here are well looked after, and the track itself is long enough to give you a real sense of racing. There are different categories of karts too, so everyone from young children to adults can join in the fun.

Lanzarote Karting Categories and Age Groups

For the youngest drivers, usually three to six years old, there are small electric karts. There´s also cadet karts with gentle engines and limited speed for seven to eleven year olds, these are perfect for little ones to get a taste of the excitement of driving on a real circuit, but always at a safe and sensible pace.

Older children and younger teens, usually from around eight to twelve, can move up to the junior karts. These have a bit more power and feel noticeably quicker and more responsive than the cadet models, letting them enjoy more of the circuit and a real sense of speed.

Once you reach your teenage years, or if you’re an adult, you can try the full-size karts. These are the real deal, with 200cc or the larger 400cc engines and enough speed to get your heart racing. On a warm Lanzarote afternoon, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of powering down the straight and feeling the effort as you steer through the corners.

There are also two-seater karts, so an adult can take a younger child along for the ride. This is a lovely way for little ones who aren’t quite ready to drive on their own to still enjoy the circuit and share the fun together.

Lanzarote Karting Sessions and Pricing

A typical karting session gives you eight to ten minutes out on the track. It might not sound like much, but you’ll be surprised at how energetic it feels, especially under the Lanzarote sun. Most people find that after a session of weaving, braking and accelerating, a short break is very welcome. If you’re keen for more, you can always book extra sessions. Many visitors enjoy two or three runs during their visit, with a cool drink and a breather in between.

The venue has a lively atmosphere with plenty of people enjoying the track, the experience is well organised with friendly members of staff on hand to explain the different kart options and help everyone choose the most suitable vehicle based on age and experience.

Before racing, every driver watches a short safety briefing and is fitted with a helmet, ensuring everyone feels confident before heading onto the circuit. Once you’re ready, it’s simply a case of waiting for your session while enjoying the facilities on site.
There’s plenty to do while you wait. Visitors can relax with a drink or snack from the bar, choose from pizzas, ice creams and refreshments, spend time in the games room, or simply watch the action unfold on the track. It all adds to the atmosphere and makes it enjoyable even for those waiting for their turn.

Lanzarote Karting. How to get there

Located in San Bartolome, just five minutes from the airport, it´s easy to get to with plenty of parking available right at the venue, so you will not have to worry about finding a space. If you are not driving, they also offer free transport supplied to and from the track, contact Lanzarote Karting for more information.

The Track

The star attraction is of course the impressive 1,000-metre circuit, featuring a fantastic mix of sweeping bends, technical corners and faster sections where drivers can really enjoy the performance of the karts. It’s challenging enough to keep experienced drivers entertained while remaining accessible for beginners. Printed Lap times are also given at the end of the race for the competitive amongst us!

One of the reasons Lanzarote Karting is so popular is the wide choice of karts available, including:

  • Kiddies’ electric karts
  • Cadet karts
  • Junior karts
  • Two-seater karts
  • Adult karts
  • Pro Extreme karts

We’ve visited previously on many occasions with small groups, families, larger groups of adults and for birthday celebrations, showing just how versatile the attraction is for different occasions.
