Eating Out in Costa Teguise
Restaurant guide to Costa Teguise, Pueblo Marinero dining, main strip restaurants, Las Cucharas beach bars, and the best places to eat.
Costa Teguise is Lanzarote’s third major resort, and it has always offered something a little different. Designed with care by Cesar Manrique, it was intended as a low-rise, tasteful alternative to the high-rise developments found on other islands. The restaurant scene here may be smaller than in Puerto del Carmen, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in quality. Around Pueblo Marinero square, along Las Cucharas beach, and on the main avenues, you’ll find some real gems that locals and visitors alike return to time and again.
Costa Teguise attracts a lovely mix of families, windsurfers, and couples, and the restaurants reflect this welcoming blend. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with a good choice of both international favourites and authentic Canarian dishes. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind after a day in the sun and enjoy a meal at your own pace.
Eating out at Pueblo Marinero, the Social Hub
Pueblo Marinero is one of those places that really captures the spirit of Lanzarote. Designed by Cesar Manrique, this whitewashed square sits at the heart of Costa Teguise, surrounded by friendly restaurants, welcoming bars and a handful of little shops. On a balmy evening, you will often find families wandering through, the gentle sound of live music in the air, and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere that makes it a favourite spot for many of us to enjoy a drink and watch the world go by.
The dining scene in Pueblo Marinero is always changing, and lately we have welcomed some new spots that have quickly become favourites with locals. Azul de Sal is one we are especially pleased to have here. They serve contemporary Canarian seafood, with a real emphasis on fresh, locally caught fish. Their ceviche and grilled octopus are already popular choices, and it is lovely to see both residents and visitors enjoying them.
If you are in the mood for something a little different, Oasi Thai is a wonderful addition to the square. Their green curry and pad thai are favourites of ours, and with a chef from Chiang Mai in the kitchen, you can be sure the flavours are the real thing.
La Parrilla de Manrique is another spot we often recommend, especially if you enjoy a good steak. The restaurant pays tribute to Lanzarote’s famous architect and serves up excellent Spanish and South American cuts, cooked over volcanic stone. There are also some tasty vegetarian grill options, so everyone is well looked after.
These new arrivals sit happily alongside the old favourites, bringing even more variety to Pueblo Marinero. It all adds up to a square that feels more lively and welcoming than ever.
Restaurante Neptuno has long been a favourite here in Pueblo Marinero. They serve up classic Spanish and Canarian dishes, and their terrace seating right on the square is perfect for soaking up the lively atmosphere. If you are a fan of paella, theirs is one we often recommend. It is consistently one of the best you will find on the island.
El Patio is always a good option if you enjoy tapas. It is the kind of place where you can settle in with friends or family, share a few plates and try a bit of everything. We are especially fond of their patatas bravas and Iberian ham, which never disappoint.
Every so often, the square is filled with food markets and live entertainment, organised by the resort. These evenings are always a treat and well worth seeking out if you want to see Costa Teguise at its liveliest.
Avenida del Jablillo & Main Strip
Strolling along the main streets here, you’ll soon notice just how much the local dining scene has blossomed. There’s a wonderful mix of restaurants offering everything from Indian and Italian to Japanese, Mediterranean, and even some creative fusion menus. Over the years, we’ve seen the arrival of lively tapas bars, vegan-friendly cafés, and a few excellent burger places too. Whether you’re after a comforting favourite or keen to try something new, there’s truly something for everyone.
La Jordana, right on the main strip, is a favourite among those of us who love genuine Canarian cooking. Their menu is full of fresh fish, beautifully grilled meats, and all the traditional island dishes you’d hope to find, each one prepared with real care. The friendly atmosphere and the steady stream of local regulars say a lot about the quality here. Every so often, they’ll surprise you with a special that puts a new twist on local ingredients.
Isla de Lobos offers a wide choice, from international favourites to much-loved Spanish classics, with a real emphasis on fresh seafood and whatever is in season. The setting is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff always make you feel at home, which is why it’s a hit with families and groups of friends. If you’re in the mood for something a little special, their tasting platters and wine pairings are well worth trying.
If you are in the mood for Indian cuisine, Taj Mahal remains one of Costa Teguise’s most acclaimed restaurants. Renowned for its authentic flavours and welcoming service, it draws a diverse clientele and offers an extensive menu, including a range of vegetarian and vegan options. Taj Mahal is also noted for its specialty tandoori dishes and freshly baked naan breads, which consistently receive high praise.
Some of the best surprises are tucked away in the commercial centres along the strip, like Las Cucharas and Jablillo. Here you’ll find a real mix of independent places, from modern bistros to cosy, family-run cafés. True to Lanzarote tradition, it’s often the quieter spots that serve up the most memorable meals and friendliest service. These little gems are ideal for discovering proper tapas, homemade pizzas, or a sweet treat to finish your evening.
Las Cucharas Beach Area
The area surrounding Playa de las Cucharas, which is the main beach here and a favourite with windsurfers, has a small collection of relaxed restaurants and beach bars. There’s a friendly, easygoing atmosphere that makes it a lovely spot to unwind after a day by the sea.
In recent years, a few new restaurants have brought fresh energy to the area around Playa de las Cucharas. Casa Mar y Sol is a welcoming seafood bistro where you can enjoy locally caught fish and inventive tapas, while Verde Luna has become a favourite for its creative vegetarian dishes and peaceful garden setting. If you are in the mood for something special, El Mirador del Atlántico serves beautifully prepared Canarian cuisine with sweeping views of the ocean. These places add even more variety to the local dining scene, so whether you are here for the beach or the food, you are well looked after.
Chiringuito Playa de las Cucharas is the kind of beach bar where you can enjoy simple, honest food; fresh fish, burgers, and salads, while feeling the sand between your toes. After a morning out on the water, it is just the place to relax and soak up the laid-back Lanzarote vibe.
Along the beachfront promenade, you will find a handful of terrace restaurants that are perfect for a relaxed evening meal with views of the sea. The menus are simple and unpretentious, but it is the setting and the gentle sound of the waves that make dining here so enjoyable.
