Lanzarote Haria Market

The Haria Saturday Market is Lanzarote's best artisan market. Local produce, handmade crafts and a relaxed atmosphere under the palm trees.

Share

Every Saturday morning, the pretty northern village of Haria hosts a small but high-quality artisan market in its main square. Shaded by tall palm trees, the market has a calm, authentic atmosphere that feels a world away from the tourist resort markets further south.

What you will find

This is primarily a producers' market. Local stallholders sell homemade goat's cheese, fresh bread, honey, jams, mojo sauces, Malvasia wine, olive oil and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Craft stalls offer handmade ceramics, jewellery, leather goods and artwork. Everything feels genuine - there is very little mass-produced tourist merchandise here.

The setting

Haria sits in the Valle de las Mil Palmeras (Valley of a Thousand Palms) in the green north of the island. The village itself is one of the most attractive on Lanzarote with whitewashed houses, narrow lanes and a peaceful, unhurried pace. The market runs from around 10am to 2pm. Combine your visit with lunch at one of the village restaurants and a visit to the Cesar Manrique house museum.

Getting there

Haria is about 30 minutes from Costa Teguise and 40 minutes from Puerto del Carmen. The drive north through the Famara mountains is scenic, passing the Mirador de Haria viewpoint. Parking is available around the village but fills up by late morning on market days.
