Cafe La Ola - Oceanfront dining, Spectacular Sunsets and Fantastic Entertainment!

When people ask us for restaurant recommendations in Lanzarote, one venue consistently makes our list: Café La Ola in Puerto del Carmen.

Recently, we visited on a Sunday evening with a group of friends, we arrived early evening to make the most of one of the venue’s biggest attractions – its incredible sunset views. 

Situated right on the Puerto del Carmen seafront, Café La Ola enjoys uninterrupted ocean views, swaying palm trees, and a front-row seat to some of the island’s most spectacular sunsets. Quite simply, there’s nowhere else quite like it.

We started the evening with cocktails, soaking up the atmosphere as the sun began to dip. The venue has a relaxed yet stylish feel, making it equally suited to a casual drink with friends or a full evening of dining and entertainment.

For food, we shared a selection of starters including loaded nachos, mini burgers and crispy chicken bao buns. All were beautifully presented and packed with flavour. For our main courses, we enjoyed fish and chips, a wok dish and peri-peri chicken, with every dish receiving positive reviews. The food was fresh, generous and thoroughly enjoyable.

As impressive as the food and setting are, the real magic of Café La Ola is the complete experience it offers. We arrived during a live performance from Fuse Band, a talented three-piece band whose mix of keyboards, guitar and drums provided the perfect soundtrack to the evening. Following their set was an entertaining live saxophone performance from Bobby Blue, which kept the atmosphere buzzing well into the night.

One of the reasons Café La Ola remains so popular with both visitors and residents is its diverse entertainment programme. There is live music and entertainment every night of the week, ranging from live bands and DJs to salsa nights, soul evenings, saxophone performances, motown-themed events and even live cello performances. Whatever your taste in music or entertainment, there’s usually something happening. It’s worth checking their website or Facebook page before visiting to see what’s scheduled and choose the night that best suits you.

If you’re planning a visit, our advice would be to arrive in the late afternoon or early evening. Not only will you enjoy the venue in daylight, but you’ll also be treated to one of Lanzarote’s stunning sunsets before settling in for dinner and entertainment.
