June is when summer really settles in here on Lanzarote. The days are comfortably warm and full of sunshine, with temperatures usually sitting between 24 and 27°C. Rain is almost unheard of at this time of year. The island feels vibrant under the long, bright days, and the evenings are just right for enjoying a relaxed meal outdoors or taking a gentle walk along the seafront as the sky turns golden. You’ll see the beaches filling up and local restaurants opening up their terraces, making the most of these beautiful, lingering evenings.
One of the things we really appreciate about Lanzarote is that you never get the intense heat you might find on the Spanish mainland. The Atlantic breeze and the gentle trade winds keep everything pleasantly balanced. For many of us who live here, June is truly one of the loveliest months on the island.
Daytime temperatures here usually settle between 24 and 27°C, with evenings cooling gently to a comfortable 18 or 19°C. Rain is a rare visitor at this time of year. The familiar Alisios trade winds pick up most afternoons, bringing a refreshing breeze that keeps the heat in check. The sea warms to a welcoming 20 or 21°C, just right for lingering swims or a spot of snorkelling. The sun is strong, so I always recommend plenty of sunscreen if you are out and about.
June is a wonderful month for exploring Lanzarote’s coastline. The seven coves of Papagayo are perfect for a day of beach hopping, each one offering its own charm and crystal-clear waters. If you enjoy snorkelling, Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen is a favourite spot among locals for its sheltered bay and colourful marine life.
For those who prefer a wilder scene, the northern surf beaches have a rugged beauty all their own. With the long daylight hours, sunset catamaran cruises are especially memorable at this time of year, as the sky glows over the Atlantic.
And on the evening of June 23rd, the island comes alive for San Juan, when families and friends gather on the beaches for bonfires, music and celebrations that last well into the night. It’s one of those special Lanzarote experiences you won’t want to miss.
Typical highs are 24-27°C, occasionally touching 30°C during a calima (hot wind from the Sahara). The trade winds keep it feeling comfortable. It's warm but nothing like the sweltering heat you'd get in southern mainland Spain.
Yes, absolutely. Sea temperatures reach 20-21°C in June, which most people find very comfortable for swimming, snorkelling, and water sports without a wetsuit.
