Tipping in Lanzarote

If you’re visiting Lanzarote for the first time, you may be wondering whether tipping is expected. Tipping isn’t compulsory in Spain, but it is always appreciated when you’ve received good service.

Restaurants

In most restaurants, it’s common to leave around 5–10% if you’ve enjoyed your meal and the service has been good. For smaller bills, many people simply round up the total or leave a couple of euros.

Bars and Cafés

When ordering drinks or coffee, tipping isn’t expected, but leaving your small change or €1–€2 for good service is a kind gesture.

Taxis

Most visitors simply round the fare up to the nearest euro. If your driver has helped with luggage or provided excellent service, you may wish to leave a little extra.

Hotel Staff

If a porter helps with your luggage, €1–€2 per bag is appreciated. Housekeeping staff are often tipped €1–€3 per day, particularly during longer stays.

Tour Guides

If you’ve enjoyed a guided excursion or activity, a tip of €5–€10 per person is a thoughtful way to show your appreciation.

Unlike some countries, staff in Lanzarote are paid a wage, so tipping isn’t an obligation. Think of it as a way of saying “thank you” for excellent service rather than something you have to do.
