La Graciosa Catamaran Excursion – A Relaxing Day Out We’d Happily Do Again

If you’re looking for a day away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist resorts, a catamaran excursion to La Graciosa is one of the most enjoyable trips we’ve experienced in Lanzarote.
Our excursion was organised by Nic Nack´s Excursions Lanzarote, who can arrange a wide range of tours and activities across Lanzarote. Everything was taken care of from start to finish, making it a completely stress-free day. Whether you’re travelling as a couple, with family, or in a group of friends, it’s an excursion that really does suit all ages.
Getting There

There are several collection points across Lanzarote if you don’t have a hire car, making the trip accessible wherever you’re staying on the island.
As we had our own car, we chose to drive to the pretty fishing village of Órzola, right at the northern tip of Lanzarote, where we boarded the express ferry to La Graciosa.
The crossing takes around 25 minutes, and before long we were arriving on one of the Canary Islands’ best-kept secrets.
Boarding the Catamaran

Once in La Graciosa, we transferred onto the catamaran and set sail for what would be around four wonderful hours on the water.
The crew immediately made everyone feel welcome with a selection of delicious Canarian snacks and a complimentary glass of champagne. The snacks included local cheeses, tomato bread, traditional Canarian potatoes, fresh melon and olives – the perfect way to begin the cruise.
Afterwards, the onboard bar opened with unlimited soft drinks, beer and wine included throughout the trip.
Exploring the Coastline

As we cruised around the spectacular coastline of La Graciosa, we were treated to incredible views of volcanic landscapes, dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Eventually, the catamaran anchored in a beautiful sheltered cove with a sandy beach where we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the sea.
Those feeling adventurous could swim in the crystal-clear water, snorkel among the fish or borrow one of the onboard kayaks to paddle around the bay. Others simply relaxed on deck, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Lunch On Board
Midway through the excursion, lunch was served on board. It consisted of a fresh pasta dish, salad and fruit – simple, tasty and just what was needed after spending time in the water.
With lunch finished, there was still plenty of time left to continue swimming, sunbathing, listening to music or even joining in with a bit of dancing as everyone settled into the relaxed holiday atmosphere.
A Taste of the Canary Islands
As we began sailing back towards the harbour, everyone was offered a complimentary shot of Ron Miel.
If you’ve never tried it before, Ron Miel is one of the Canary Islands’ most famous liqueurs. Made by blending rum with locally produced honey, it has a smooth, sweet flavour and is traditionally served chilled. It’s a lovely way to round off a fantastic day on the water.
Time to Explore La Graciosa

Before catching the ferry back to Lanzarote, we had some free time to explore the charming village on La Graciosa.
Life here feels wonderfully unhurried. There are no traffic lights and very few paved roads, giving the island a peaceful atmosphere that’s worlds away from modern life.
Whitewashed houses line sandy streets, fishing boats bob gently in the harbour and small cafés and restaurants invite you to sit outside with a coffee or a cold drink while watching island life go by.
Although it’s only a short ferry ride from Lanzarote, La Graciosa feels like stepping back in time and offers a completely different experience.
