AEMET Forecasts a Hot Week Ahead for Lanzarote as Temperatures Approach 30°C

Lanzarote is set for another spell of classic summer weather, with Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasting warm, dry and sunny conditions across much of the island over the coming week. Daytime temperatures are expected to climb to around 30°C, while rainfall is expected to remain unlikely.

For both residents and holidaymakers, it means ideal conditions for enjoying Lanzarote’s beaches, outdoor attractions, restaurants and evening entertainment. However, with UV levels remaining high during August, visitors are advised to take sensible precautions during the hottest part of the day.

Warm Days and Pleasant Evenings

According to the latest forecasts, coastal resorts including Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Arrecife can expect:

  • Maximum temperatures of 29–30°C
  • Overnight lows of 22–23°C
  • Plenty of sunshine with little or no rainfall
  • Moderate to fresh trade winds helping to keep conditions comfortable.

While inland areas may briefly feel slightly warmer during the afternoon, coastal locations will continue to benefit from the cooling Atlantic breeze.

Perfect Weather for Holiday Activities

The forecast is good news for anyone planning to:

  • Relax on Lanzarote’s beaches
  • Visit Timanfaya National Park
  • Explore the island’s volcanic landscapes
  • Enjoy boat trips or water sports
  • Dine outdoors during the evening

Sea temperatures also remain warm enough for swimming, making August one of the most popular times to visit the island.

Stay Safe in the Heat

Although temperatures around 30°C are typical for Lanzarote in August, prolonged sunshine can quickly lead to dehydration or sunburn.

Visitors are encouraged to:

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Wear sunscreen with a high SPF.
  • Use hats and sunglasses when outdoors.
  • Take breaks in the shade during the afternoon.
  • Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.

Looking Ahead

Current forecasts suggest the settled weather pattern will continue through much of the week, with no significant rain expected and temperatures remaining close to the 30°C mark. As always, weather conditions can change, so it’s worth checking the latest AEMET updates if you’re planning outdoor activities.
