Binter Adds 5,500 Extra Seats for the Canary Islands Bank Holiday Weekend

Travelling between the Canary Islands over the October bank holiday weekend? Binter is putting thousands of extra seats into its inter-island schedule, including additional capacity on routes serving Lanzarote.

The Canary Islands airline has announced 68 additional flights and around 5,500 extra seats compared with its normal schedule on the busiest departure and return days of the El Pilar holiday period.

The extra flights are particularly useful news for residents and visitors planning to travel between Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and the other Canary Islands this weekend.

When are the extra Binter flights operating?

Binter's special programme runs from Friday 9 October through Tuesday 13 October 2026, with the biggest increases concentrated around the main travel days.

Friday 9 October is expected to be one of the busiest departure days, while Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October are important return days.

Across the five-day period, Binter is scheduled to operate 1,194 inter-island flights within the Canary Islands, offering a total of 88,032 seats.

The daily figures are:

• Friday 9 October: 276 flights and more than 20,308 seats
• Saturday 10 October: 224 flights and 16,562 seats
• Sunday 11 October: 190 flights and 13,760 seats
• Monday 12 October: 264 flights and 19,324 seats
• Tuesday 13 October: 240 flights and 18,078 seats

Why is Binter adding more flights?

The additional capacity is designed to cope with the increased demand for inter-island travel during the October holiday period.

12 October is a national public holiday in Spain, meaning the weekend creates an opportunity for people to take short breaks or visit friends and family elsewhere in the archipelago.

For Lanzarote residents, this can mean more choice when planning a trip to another island. For visitors already in the Canary Islands, additional inter-island capacity can also make it easier to combine islands during a holiday.

Lanzarote is one of the routes receiving a noticeable boost

Lanzarote is among the islands directly benefiting from the additional capacity.

The Tenerife North–Lanzarote route is receiving eight extra flights, increasing available capacity on the route by approximately 13% compared with Binter's normal October programme.

There will also be two additional flights between Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

Fuerteventura is also seeing an increase, with eight additional flights on the Tenerife North–Fuerteventura connection, equivalent to an increase of around 14% in available capacity.

Other routes receiving additional services include Tenerife North–El Hierro and Gran Canaria–La Palma.

What does this mean for people travelling from Lanzarote?

For anyone looking at Lanzarote flights between the islands this weekend, the extra Binter services could provide more flexibility at a time when demand is higher than usual.

The increased schedule is particularly relevant to Lanzarote residents travelling for the long weekend, as well as tourists who are combining Lanzarote with Tenerife, Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura.

It is worth remembering that extra capacity does not necessarily mean every flight will have seats available at the last minute. Popular departures can still fill quickly during busy holiday periods.

If you are travelling, check the latest timetable and availability before heading to Lanzarote Airport, and allow plenty of time for your journey.

A busy weekend for inter-island travel

The additional Binter flights are another sign that the Canary Islands remain highly connected by air, with regular services linking the islands throughout the year.

Binter currently operates an extensive inter-island network, making air travel an important part of everyday life in the archipelago as well as tourism.

For people living in Lanzarote, extra flights can be particularly helpful during public holidays, when demand can rise quickly and ferry and flight options may become busier.

For tourists, the increased capacity offers another opportunity to explore beyond a single island.

If you are staying in Lanzarote and considering a day trip or short break elsewhere in the Canary Islands, it is worth checking the additional services while they are available.

Important advice for travellers

Flight schedules can change, and seats, fares and departure times depend on availability. Anyone travelling over the October bank holiday should check directly with Binter for the latest information before making their journey.

For Lanzarote passengers, the main takeaway is simple: there are more inter-island flight options than usual over this busy October weekend, with the Tenerife North–Lanzarote route receiving eight additional services.

So, if you are planning to travel between the Canary Islands this weekend, it could be a good time to check the Binter timetable and see whether the extra capacity gives you a more convenient option.
