British Woman Rescued After Seven-Metre Fall in Lanzarote
A British woman has been taken to hospital after falling from an estimated height of around seven metres in Lanzarote, prompting a major emergency response involving firefighters, ambulance crews and police.
The incident happened during the morning of Monday, 17 August, when the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received reports that a woman had fallen from a significant height. Emergency services, including Lanzarote firefighters, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Guardia Civil and Local Police, were sent to the scene.
Firefighters Assist in Difficult Rescue
According to emergency reports, firefighters played a key role in reaching the injured woman, who had come to rest in an area that was not easily accessible. Working alongside paramedics, they safely immobilised her before carrying her to a waiting ambulance.
The woman, identified as a British national, was then transported to Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for medical assessment and treatment. At the time of writing, no official update has been released regarding the extent of her injuries.
Reminder to Take Care Around Elevated Areas
Although incidents like this are uncommon, they serve as an important reminder for both residents and visitors to exercise caution around balconies, terraces, viewpoints and other elevated locations, particularly where surfaces may be uneven or visibility is reduced.
Lanzarote offers spectacular coastal scenery and volcanic landscapes, but some areas can present hazards if proper care is not taken.
Emergency Services Respond Quickly
Lanzarote’s emergency services regularly deal with incidents involving falls, road traffic collisions and medical emergencies across the island. Their rapid response helps ensure injured people receive treatment as quickly as possible, particularly in locations where specialist rescue equipment is required.
Authorities have not indicated that there were any wider safety concerns connected with this incident, and no further details have been released while enquiries continue.
