Car Catches Fire After Collision With Parked Vehicles in Costa Teguise
A serious road traffic accident in Costa Teguise during the early hours of Monday morning left several parked vehicles damaged and one car engulfed in flames, prompting a rapid response from Lanzarote’s emergency services.
The incident happened at around 6:25am on Avenida Las Palmeras, one of the main roads through the popular resort. According to information released by the island’s emergency services, the driver lost control of the vehicle before colliding with a number of parked cars. Shortly after the impact, the vehicle caught fire.
Firefighters from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze using both water and foam to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby vehicles. Once the fire had been brought under control, crews removed the burnt vehicle from the road and cleared debris to allow traffic to resume safely.
The female driver was treated at the scene by medical personnel before being transported by ambulance to Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa in Arrecife for further assessment. The extent of her injuries has not been made public.
Officers from the Local Police and the Guardia Civil also attended the scene, managing traffic while carrying out the necessary investigation into the cause of the collision.
Reminder for Drivers in Lanzarote
Although the exact cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed, the incident serves as a reminder for both residents and visitors to take extra care when driving, particularly during the early morning hours when visibility may be reduced and driver fatigue can become a factor.
Costa Teguise remains one of Lanzarote’s busiest tourist destinations, with roads becoming increasingly busy throughout the summer season. Drivers are encouraged to remain alert, observe speed limits and pay close attention when travelling through residential streets where parked vehicles line the roads.
