Car Leaves the Road Following Collision in Arrecife Neighbourhood

A road traffic accident in Arrecife, Lanzarote, on Friday night resulted in one vehicle leaving the road and crashing through a fence in the San Francisco Javier neighbourhood.

The incident happened on Viriato Street after two vehicles were involved in a collision. According to emergency services, one of the cars was struck from the side, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then left the carriageway and entered a nearby plot of land, damaging part of the surrounding fence.

Driver Taken to Hospital with Minor Injuries

Emergency crews, including firefighters and medical personnel, attended the scene shortly after the collision.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a Dacia Sandero, complained of mild neck pain and was assessed by paramedics before being taken to Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital in Arrecife as a precaution. Initial reports indicate that both people involved in the crash suffered only minor injuries.

Firefighters Not Required to Carry Out Rescue

Although firefighters attended the incident, no rescue operation was necessary.

By the time emergency services arrived, both vehicles were already off the road and there was no immediate danger. Firefighters confirmed there was no risk requiring further intervention before the scene was handed over to the relevant authorities.

Advice for Drivers in Lanzarote

While this incident appears to have ended without serious injuries, it serves as another reminder for motorists to remain alert on Lanzarote’s roads, particularly when driving through residential areas where unexpected hazards, parked vehicles and junctions can increase the risk of collisions.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to drive within speed limits, avoid distractions and leave plenty of space between vehicles, especially during the evening and at night.
