Road safety reminder for drivers and cyclists in Lanzarote

Lanzarote is popular with cyclists, from residents commuting around the island to visitors exploring its towns and volcanic landscapes by bike. Drivers should remain alert for cyclists, leave sufficient space when overtaking and take extra care at junctions and on urban roads. Cyclists should use appropriate lights when visibility is reduced, wear a properly fitted helmet and follow local traffic rules.

This incident is a reminder that collisions can happen on everyday roads as well as on the island’s popular cycling routes. Anyone travelling around Arrecife should take care near the location while remembering that details about the cause of this particular collision have not been established publicly.
