CYCLING SAFELY IN LANZAROTE
Lanzarote attracts cyclists throughout the year thanks to its mild climate, open landscapes and varied routes. From quieter rural roads to busier urban streets, conditions can change quickly, so both cyclists and motorists should remain alert and give one another adequate space.
Cyclists should use suitable lights when visibility is poor, wear a properly fitted helmet, check their brakes and tyres before setting out, and take extra care at junctions, roundabouts and on unfamiliar roads. Drivers should pass cyclists only when it is safe to do so and leave plenty of room.
Anyone planning a cycling holiday in Lanzarote should also consider the island’s wind, which can affect balance and handling, particularly on exposed roads.
A REMINDER FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS
The incident is a reminder that a fall on a bicycle can require medical attention even when no collision with another road user has been reported. Emergency teams attended promptly, and the cyclist was transferred to Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa for further care.
No further details about her condition have been confirmed in the information used for this report.
For residents and tourists in Lanzarote, the key message is to take care on the island’s roads and remain considerate of everyone using them.
