Driver Rescued After Car Flips Onto Its Side in Costa Teguise
Emergency services were called to a dramatic road traffic accident in Costa Teguise after a vehicle overturned onto its side on Avenida El Golf shortly after midday on Tuesday.
According to reports from emergency responders, the driver became trapped inside the vehicle following the crash, prompting a rapid response from firefighters, paramedics and local authorities. Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium worked carefully to stabilise the overturned car before safely extracting the occupant using a specialised zero-angle rescue technique designed to minimise movement and reduce the risk of further injury.
Medical teams were already assisting the driver when emergency crews arrived at the scene. Authorities confirmed the man remained conscious and was reportedly in good condition during the rescue operation. Once freed from the vehicle, he was transferred onto a stretcher and taken to an ambulance for further medical assessment.
Images from the incident show the white vehicle lying on its side in the middle of the road, while firefighters, police officers and Canary Islands emergency personnel secured the area. Traffic in the surrounding area of Costa Teguise was temporarily affected while the rescue and recovery operation took place.
After the rescue was completed, firefighters returned the vehicle to its normal position, cleared debris from the road and ensured the area was safe before reopening the route to traffic. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed and investigations are ongoing.
The incident is the latest in a number of recent traffic accidents reported in Costa Teguise and across Lanzarote, highlighting continued concerns over road safety on the island’s busy tourist routes.
