Firefighters Respond After Debris Falls from Residential Building in Arrecife
Emergency services were called to a residential building in Arrecife after sections of exterior plasterwork became detached and fell from the façade, raising concerns for public safety.
According to the Lanzarote Safety and Emergency Consortium, firefighters attended the scene to assess the condition of the building following reports of falling debris. Their inspection revealed that the deterioration of the exterior plasterwork was more extensive than initially thought, with damage affecting several areas of the building.
As a precaution, authorities have concluded that scaffolding will need to be installed around the property to protect pedestrians and allow repairs to be carried out safely. Measures are also expected to be put in place to prevent anyone from entering potentially hazardous areas until the building has been made secure.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, but the response highlights the importance of maintaining older buildings, particularly in busy urban areas where falling debris can pose a serious risk to residents and passers-by.
