Lanzarote Hotels Record €71.4 Million in September as Revenue Rises by 12.5%
Lanzarote’s hotel industry has reported a strong September, with accommodation revenue reaching €71.4 million — a rise of around 12.5% compared with the same month last year. The figures offer a useful snapshot of how tourism is performing on the island as the busy summer season gives way to autumn.
According to figures published by the Canary Islands’ tourism statistics service, ISTAC, hotel revenue in Lanzarote increased from approximately €63.46 million in September 2025 to €71.40 million in September 2026. The latest total also exceeds the island’s September 2024 figure.
Hotel prices contribute to the increase
The average daily rate per hotel room rose to €147.73 in September, up from €133.76 a year earlier. That is an annual increase of about 10.4%. The rise in room rates appears to be a major factor behind the higher revenue, rather than a dramatic jump in visitor numbers alone.
Hotels welcomed 169,073 guests during September, compared with 164,799 in September 2025. Room occupancy reached 87.36%, a slight increase on the 87.15% recorded a year earlier. In other words, the hotels were already operating at a high level of occupancy, while the average amount earned per room also increased.
Hotel employment also reaches a September high
The latest figures show 11,109 people employed by Lanzarote’s hotel sector in September. That compares with 10,453 in September 2025, an increase of around 6.3%. Hotel activity therefore remains an important source of jobs on the island, supporting work in accommodation and related services.
What does this mean for visitors to Lanzarote?
For holidaymakers planning a trip to Lanzarote, the figures are a reminder that accommodation prices can vary considerably depending on the resort, hotel category, facilities and time of year. September is often attractive to visitors looking for warm weather beyond the peak summer months, but it should not automatically be assumed to be cheaper than every other period.
Anyone searching for Lanzarote hotel deals, affordable accommodation in Lanzarote or a winter-sun holiday should compare dates and locations, check what is included in the price, and consider smaller hotels and apartments as well as large resorts. Booking early can help with choice, while flexible travel dates may reveal better-value options.
Why the figures matter to residents and local businesses
Tourism revenue is a key part of Lanzarote’s economy. Strong hotel income and rising employment can be positive signs for the island, but headline revenue does not tell the whole story for every business or household. Hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, excursion operators and other local services have different costs and customer patterns, and higher hotel income does not automatically mean that every business experiences the same increase.
The wider picture is also worth keeping in mind: revenue can rise because prices have increased, even when visitor numbers change only modestly. For residents, the important questions include how tourism income supports stable jobs, local suppliers and businesses across the island.
A strong September, with more than one factor at work
Lanzarote’s hotel sector has finished September with higher revenue, slightly more hotel guests, high room occupancy and increased employment compared with the same month last year. The figures point to a healthy month for hotel businesses, while also showing why it is useful to look beyond one headline number when judging tourism trends.
For visitors, Lanzarote continues to offer a wide range of places to stay, from lively resort hotels to quieter accommodation near the island’s villages and coastline. Comparing options carefully remains the best way to find a holiday that suits both budget and travel style.
