Late-Night House Fire in Arrecife Brings Emergency Services to City Street
A late-night house fire in Arrecife saw firefighters and other emergency services attend a residential property in the early hours of Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The incident happened on Calle Blas Cabrera Topham in Arrecife, with the emergency call received at around 00:41. The alert raised concern that people could potentially still be inside the property, prompting a rapid response from emergency crews.
According to information from the Lanzarote Consortium for Security and Emergencies, firefighters carried out an initial search of the property to check for anyone who might be trapped inside. No occupants were found during that first search.
Several people had, however, managed to leave the property by themselves before the firefighters' intervention.
Firefighters then concentrated on extinguishing the fire and dealing with the smoke inside the building. Positive-pressure ventilation was used, with windows and access to the rooftop opened to help clear smoke from the property.
Once temperatures had been reduced and the fire was under control, the crews carried out a further inspection of the rooms to make sure there were no remaining hotspots or people inside.
Police and ambulance crews also attended the Arrecife fire
The emergency response involved more than just the fire service. Local Police officers had already closed the road to make it easier for emergency vehicles to reach the scene. National Police officers and an ambulance from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) also attended.
At the time of the reports used for this article, no injuries had been reported in connection with the fire.
The incident is a reminder of how quickly a residential fire can develop, particularly during the night when people may be asleep and less aware of smoke or flames.
Fire safety advice for residents and visitors to Lanzarote
For anyone living in or visiting Lanzarote, basic fire safety precautions are worth remembering. Smoke alarms can provide an early warning, while keeping cooking areas clear of flammable materials can reduce the risk of a kitchen fire.
If a fire does start, the priority should be to get out safely, alert other people in the property and call 112. People should not put themselves at risk by attempting to tackle a fire that is spreading or producing heavy smoke.
Visitors staying in apartments, villas, holiday lets or hotels should also take a moment when they arrive to identify the nearest exit and check where the fire alarm and emergency information are located.
For emergencies anywhere in Lanzarote, 112 is the number to call for the emergency services.
This Arrecife house fire was dealt with by the emergency services during the early hours, with firefighters completing extinguishing, ventilation and safety checks at the property.
