Motorsport Community Pays Tribute After Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Lanzarote
The Lanzarote motorsport community has come together to remember Nazaret Benasco Curbelo, a well-known local motorcyclist who sadly lost his life following a road traffic accident in the north of the island.
The fatal accident happened on Saturday, 8 August, on the LZ-208 road between Haría and Arrieta, a route popular with both residents and visiting motorcyclists for its scenic coastal and mountain views. Emergency services responded quickly after reports of the incident, but despite extensive resuscitation efforts after the rider suffered a cardiac arrest, he could not be saved.
Lanzarote’s Motorcycle Community Unites
Following the tragedy, friends and fellow bikers organised a motorcycle procession to accompany Nazaret’s family during his funeral and pay their final respects.
The gathering began at the Repsol petrol station in Argana Baja, with dozens of riders travelling together to the funeral service in what became a moving tribute from the island’s close-knit motorcycle community.
Many riders shared heartfelt messages on social media, describing Nazaret as a passionate motorcyclist and valued friend whose enthusiasm for riding had touched many people across Lanzarote.
Thoughts With Family and Friends
The loss has been felt throughout the local community, with many residents expressing their condolences to Nazaret’s family and friends.
While investigations into the circumstances of the accident follow the normal procedures after any serious road traffic incident, the focus for many has been on supporting those closest to him and celebrating his passion for motorcycling.
