Police Investigate Ram-Raid Robbery at a Lanzarote Petrol Station
Police are investigating a reported robbery at a petrol station in Lanzarote after a vehicle was allegedly driven into the premises in what is known locally in Spain as an “alunizaje” — a ram-raid in which a vehicle is used to force entry to a business.
According to local reporting published on 14 October, the incident happened over the preceding weekend. Three people are reported to have crashed a vehicle into the service station as part of the alleged robbery. The Policía Nacional is investigating the incident.
At the time of writing, the publicly available information reviewed for this article does not establish the exact location of the petrol station, the value of any items taken, whether anyone was injured, or whether arrests have been made in connection with this particular case. These details should be added only if confirmed by the police or a reliable subsequent report.
What is a ram-raid?
A ram-raid is a form of forced entry in which a vehicle is used to break through a shopfront, shutter or entrance. Although the aim may be to get inside quickly, the impact can cause substantial damage to the building and create hazards from broken glass, damaged structures and debris.
The investigation in Lanzarote is a reminder that crime incidents can affect local businesses and the surrounding area, even when they occur outside busy trading hours. Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity should avoid approaching those involved and contact the emergency services or Policía Nacional.
There is currently no verified information in the reporting reviewed that suggests this incident presents a wider risk to tourists or that petrol stations across the island are affected. Visitors and residents should follow any instructions from police, avoid a damaged or cordoned-off premises, and check with the individual station if they need to confirm whether it is open.
Lanzarote remains a busy island for residents, workers and holidaymakers, and local news should be understood in context. We will update this report if authorities release further confirmed information about the location, damage or progress of the investigation.
