Rally Isla de Los Volcanes to Bring Temporary Road Closures in Tías and Puerto Calero This Friday

Motorists travelling around Tías, Mácher and Puerto Calero on Friday, 7 August, are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys as several roads will temporarily close for the Rally Isla de Los Volcanes 2026.

The event forms part of one of Lanzarote’s biggest annual motorsport competitions, attracting competitors and spectators from across the Canary Islands and mainland Spain. While the rally provides an exciting spectacle, it will also result in traffic restrictions throughout the afternoon.

Which Roads Will Be Closed?

According to Tías Town Hall, the following roads will be affected between 2:15pm and approximately 8:15pm:

  • The road to Puerto Calero
  • Camino Hoya Limpia, connecting Tías with the Toro roundabout
  • The lower section of the LZ-540, between Mácher and the Toro roundabout
  • Part of the LZ-40, from the Toro roundabout to the junction with the LZ-505 leading towards Tías

Drivers should expect diversions and temporary delays while the rally stages are taking place.

Advice for Residents and Tourists

If you’re heading to Puerto Calero Marina, Tías, or travelling through the surrounding area on Friday afternoon, it’s worth planning your journey in advance.

Visitors with restaurant reservations, boat excursions or accommodation check-ins are encouraged to leave earlier than usual, as access may be restricted while rally cars are on the course.

The local council is asking motorists to follow temporary road signs and any instructions given by police officers or event marshals to help keep both competitors and spectators safe.

What Is the Rally Isla de Los Volcanes?

The Rally Isla de Los Volcanes is one of Spain’s leading gravel rally events and forms part of the national motorsport calendar. The 2026 edition runs from 5–8 August, with competitive stages taking place across various parts of Lanzarote, showcasing the island’s volcanic landscapes while attracting rally fans from across the country.

Plan Ahead

Whether you’re a resident commuting home or a tourist exploring Lanzarote, checking your route before setting off could save you time and frustration. Once the rally stage has finished, roads are expected to reopen during the evening.
