Ryanair Flight from Lanzarote to Birmingham Delayed After Passenger Removed from Aircraft

Passengers travelling from Lanzarote Airport to Birmingham experienced an unexpected delay after a disruptive passenger was removed from a Ryanair aircraft before take-off.

According to reports, the flight was delayed by almost two hours while airport authorities attended the aircraft and escorted a passenger from the plane. Witnesses said the individual was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, although airlines and authorities do not usually comment on the personal circumstances of those involved.

Safety Always Comes First

While delays are frustrating, airlines are required to put passenger safety above all else. If a member of the cabin crew or flight deck believes a passenger’s behaviour could pose a risk to the aircraft, they have the authority to refuse travel or request police assistance before departure.

Although incidents involving disruptive passengers receive a lot of attention on social media, they remain relatively uncommon compared with the millions of passengers who travel safely every year.

Growing Crackdown on Unruly Behaviour

Ryanair has been taking an increasingly firm stance against disruptive passengers. In recent years the airline has introduced tougher measures, including financial penalties for passengers removed from flights and legal action in some cases where unruly behaviour has caused significant disruption or diversions.

The airline has also repeatedly called for tighter controls on alcohol sales at airports, arguing that excessive drinking before boarding is a contributing factor in many onboard incidents.

What This Means for Travellers to and from Lanzarote

For tourists returning home and residents travelling between Lanzarote and the UK, incidents like this serve as a reminder that even the actions of one passenger can affect everyone on board. Delays caused by disruptive behaviour can impact connecting flights, airport transfers and holiday plans.

The vast majority of flights departing César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport operate without incident, and airlines continue to work closely with airport security and local authorities to ensure passengers can travel safely.

Whether you’re flying to enjoy a holiday in Lanzarote or heading back to the UK, following crew instructions and drinking responsibly helps ensure flights depart on time and everyone reaches their destination safely.
