Several Traffic Accidents Reported Across Lanzarote in the Last Few Hours
Emergency services have responded to a number of road traffic incidents across Lanzarote over the past few hours, with firefighters and other emergency crews called to several locations to make the affected areas safe.
One of the incidents took place in Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza, where a car left the road and collided with a palm tree. Firefighters attended the scene to remove the damaged vehicle before clearing debris from the road and nearby pavement to allow traffic and pedestrians to move safely again.
A separate incident was also reported on Avenida Papagayo in Playa Blanca. Emergency crews were called after vehicle debris and spilled fluids were left on the carriageway and pavement. Firefighters removed damaged vehicle parts, treated the oil spill with absorbent materials and thoroughly cleaned the affected area to reduce the risk of further accidents.
At this stage, emergency services have not released detailed information regarding injuries linked to these individual incidents. The focus of the response has been on securing the accident scenes, clearing the roads and restoring normal traffic conditions.
Advice for Drivers in Lanzarote
With several accidents occurring within a short period, motorists are being reminded to take extra care on Lanzarote’s roads. During the busy holiday season, roads around popular tourist resorts such as Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise can become significantly busier, particularly during peak travel times.
Drivers should:
- Reduce speed in busy resort areas.
- Leave extra braking distance.
- Stay alert for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Avoid distractions while driving.
- Follow any temporary traffic diversions put in place by emergency services.
Whether you’re a resident or visiting Lanzarote on holiday, driving cautiously helps keep everyone safe.
