Lanzarote Weather Forecast: Sunshine, 30°C Heat and the Chance of Light Rain Across the Island

Visitors and residents in Lanzarote can expect another warm summer’s day on Friday, 21st August, although the weather won’t be completely settled across the Canary Islands. According to the latest forecast from Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), conditions will vary between the islands, with some areas experiencing showers while others enjoy temperatures climbing above 30°C.

What to Expect in Lanzarote

For Lanzarote, the day is expected to begin with intervals of cloud, particularly during the morning. There is a small chance of light, isolated showers before midday, but any rain is expected to be brief and localised rather than widespread. As the afternoon progresses, skies should become much brighter with long spells of sunshine returning.

Temperatures are forecast to remain high, reaching around 30°C, particularly in south-eastern parts of the island. Overnight temperatures should stay comfortable at around 23°C, making for another warm August evening.

Breezy Conditions Continue

Like much of the summer, northerly winds will continue to blow across Lanzarote. These moderate winds may become stronger in some inland areas, helping to keep the heat from feeling too oppressive while also creating ideal conditions for watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Elsewhere in the Canary Islands

The weather across the Canary Islands will be more mixed. Northern parts of Tenerife and Gran Canaria could see more persistent cloud and occasional light showers, while southern Gran Canaria may experience temperatures exceeding 32°C. Fuerteventura is expected to see similar conditions to Lanzarote, with cloud during the morning followed by sunshine later in the day.

Advice for Tourists

If you’re on holiday in Lanzarote, don’t let the mention of rain put you off your plans. Any showers are expected to be brief, with the afternoon looking ideal for enjoying the island’s beaches, attractions and outdoor restaurants.

As always during the warmer months:

  • Carry plenty of water.
  • Wear sunscreen and a hat, especially during the hottest part of the day.
  • Keep an eye on local weather updates if you’re planning hiking trips or boat excursions.

Overall, Lanzarote looks set for another classic summer day with warm temperatures, plenty of afternoon sunshine and only a slight chance of a passing shower during the morning. While some of the other Canary Islands may experience more unsettled conditions, Lanzarote is expected to remain one of the better places to enjoy the weather.
