Two Arrested After Teenager Stabbed During Costa Teguise Fight
Two people have been arrested and a third person is being investigated following a violent incident in Costa Teguise in which a teenager was stabbed during a fight near one of the resort’s nightlife areas.
The incident happened on 17 August 2026, but details of the investigation have only now been released by the Guardia Civil.
According to investigators, what began as an argument between two groups of people escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight, a teenage boy was allegedly stabbed in the back, while another person suffered head injuries serious enough to require stitches.
Teenager taken to hospital after Costa Teguise stabbing
The injured teenager was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa in Lanzarote.
The second injured person suffered wounds to the head and required stitches following the altercation.
The incident took place close to a nightlife area in Costa Teguise, one of Lanzarote’s best-known holiday resorts and a popular destination for both international visitors and residents.
Witness video helps Guardia Civil investigation
A key development came from a witness who had recorded video footage showing people believed to be involved leaving the area before officers arrived.
Investigators examined the footage and were able to identify one of the people allegedly involved. He is reported to be a 44-year-old man.
Further enquiries, including information provided by witnesses and the victim, then helped officers identify another suspected participant. Police say the second suspect was recognised by the victim and witnesses as the person allegedly responsible for the stabbing.
Two people arrested and third person investigated
The investigation by the Guardia Civil in Costa Teguise has resulted in two arrests.
A third person is also being investigated in connection with the incident. According to investigators, this individual was the registered owner of the vehicle allegedly used by the suspects to leave Costa Teguise and travel towards Arrecife following the confrontation.
The investigation has now been passed to the courts in Arrecife, where the appropriate judicial proceedings will take place.
Costa Teguise remains a popular Lanzarote resort
Costa Teguise is one of the island’s major tourist destinations, known for its beaches, restaurants, bars, watersports and family-friendly holiday atmosphere.
As with any busy tourist destination, particularly around nightlife areas, visitors and residents are encouraged to take sensible precautions when enjoying an evening out, though this was an isolated incident and a rare occurance. Stay aware of your surroundings, avoid becoming involved in confrontations and contact the emergency services if you witness a serious incident.
The latest case is now in the hands of the judicial authorities, and those arrested remain suspects rather than convicted offenders while the legal process continues.

For tourists and residents in Lanzarote
While the news is understandably concerning, it is worth remembering that this was a specific incident involving an altercation between two groups, rather than an indication that Costa Teguise as a whole is experiencing widespread violence.
Costa Teguise continues to welcome large numbers of visitors every year, and its restaurants, bars, beaches and entertainment venues remain an important part of Lanzarote’s tourism offering.
For anyone living in or visiting the resort, the sensible message is the same as it would be anywhere: enjoy the island, look after your friends and family, and if a situation appears to be becoming aggressive, walk away rather than getting involved.
