Two Buses Collide at Lanzarote Island Council Roundabout, Causing Traffic Delays
Traffic was disrupted on Monday afternoon after two buses were involved in a collision at the Island Council roundabout in Arrecife.
The incident occurred on Monday, 13 July 2026, at the busy roundabout near the exit leading from Arrecife towards Playa Honda. The collision caused delays for motorists as emergency services worked at the scene.
Firefighters from the Lanzarote Fire Service, paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), along with officers from the Civil Guard and Local Police, responded quickly to the incident.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any serious injuries. Emergency crews focused on securing the area, assessing those involved, and clearing the road to restore traffic flow as quickly as possible.
Firefighters removed broken glass and cleaned up fluids spilled onto the carriageway following the collision, ensuring the road was safe before vehicles were allowed to pass through the affected area.
The Island Council roundabout is one of the busiest junctions on the island, particularly during the summer months, and even minor incidents can lead to significant congestion.
Motorists travelling between Arrecife, Playa Honda, and the airport experienced delays while emergency services completed their work.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collision, and the incident remains under investigation.
