Warm Weather Returns to Lanzarote as August Comes to an End
Lanzarote is set for another taste of summer this weekend, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures climbing towards the 30°C mark as August draws to a close.
After some changeable conditions across parts of the Canary Islands in recent days, the weather is becoming more settled, bringing plenty of sunshine to Lanzarote and making the most of the final weekend of August.
According to the latest forecasts, Sunday 30 August will see generally clear or lightly cloudy skies across Lanzarote, while a light layer of calima is possible at higher levels over the eastern Canary Islands.
Warm temperatures across the island
Lanzarote’s temperatures are expected to remain comfortably warm, although conditions can vary considerably between coastal resorts, inland areas and the north of the island.
Recent measurements from AEMET at Lanzarote Airport have already recorded temperatures around 30°C, with the island experiencing dry conditions and no significant rainfall.
For visitors staying in popular resorts such as Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise, the combination of sunshine, warm temperatures and relatively mild evenings should provide ideal conditions for enjoying the beaches, swimming pools, restaurants and outdoor attractions.
AEMET’s forecast for Playa Blanca, for example, indicates clear skies through the weekend, with temperatures around 27°C and generally light to moderate winds.
Don’t forget the Lanzarote wind
While sunshine and warm temperatures are returning, the familiar Canary Islands trade winds will still make their presence felt.
North and northeasterly winds are expected, with some exposed areas experiencing stronger conditions. This can make the temperature feel considerably more comfortable than the thermometer suggests, particularly along Lanzarote’s eastern and northern coasts.
For beachgoers, it is therefore worth remembering that a breezy day in Lanzarote can still bring very strong UV levels, even when the air doesn’t feel excessively hot.
Good conditions for a Lanzarote beach weekend
For tourists arriving in Lanzarote this weekend, the forecast should provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy the island’s famous beaches and outdoor attractions.
Clearer skies will be particularly welcome for anyone planning boat trips, sightseeing, walking or exploring Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape.
It is also a good reminder of why Lanzarote weather in August remains such a major attraction for holidaymakers. Rain is uncommon at this time of year, while warm temperatures and long periods of sunshine are typical.
Summer isn’t over yet
With September just around the corner, summer is certainly not disappearing from Lanzarote.
The latest forecast suggests that the island will continue to enjoy predominantly warm and settled conditions as August comes to an end. However, as always with Lanzarote weather, conditions can differ from one side of the island to another.
For residents and visitors, the message is simple: there’s still plenty of sunshine to enjoy before the summer season moves into September.
