Arrecife Arrest: Police Seize 74 Grams of Suspected Cocaine and 1,243 Sildenafil Tablets
An establishment manager in Arrecife has been arrested after National Police officers reportedly seized more than 74 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, along with 1,243 sildenafil tablets and more than €2,000 in cash.
The operation took place on the night of Monday, August 24, 2026, as National Police officers from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) carried out preventative checks aimed at tackling drug trafficking in Arrecife, Lanzarote.
101 packages of suspected cocaine found
According to information released following the operation, officers initially discovered a bag inside the establishment containing 268 sildenafil tablets, each reportedly containing 100 milligrams of the active ingredient, together with cash.
Further searches of the premises allegedly uncovered numerous small packages containing a white solid substance.
In total, police seized 101 individual packages, with a combined approximate weight of 74.30 grams.
Importantly, the substance has been described as appearing to be cocaine, but its exact composition remains subject to definitive laboratory analysis. This distinction is important, as the final analysis will determine what the substance actually contains.
More than 1,200 sildenafil tablets seized
The police operation also resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of sildenafil, the active ingredient used in medicines primarily associated with the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
After the initial 268 tablets were discovered, officers reportedly found a further 975 tablets, bringing the total number seized to 1,243.
Police also confiscated a digital precision scale, which was among the items found during the intervention.
Although sildenafil is commonly associated with the brand name Viagra, the police information does not identify the commercial brand of the tablets seized.
More than €2,000 in cash
Alongside the suspected drugs and tablets, officers reportedly seized €2,020.05 in cash.
The combination of the substances and other items discovered during the operation led officers to arrest the 48-year-old person responsible for the establishment.
He was subsequently taken to National Police facilities in Arrecife, where he remained in police custody while further proceedings and investigations continued.
