Arrecife Plans Ahead for Three Kings Parades in 2027 and 2028
Families in Lanzarote can look forward to the Three Kings Parades returning to Arrecife in January 2027 and January 2028, with the city council already beginning preparations for the much-loved festive celebrations.
The Arrecife City Council has opened a tender for the organisation and delivery of both parades. The contract has an estimated value of €211,000, while the base tender budget is €112,885 including taxes (€105,500 before taxes). The procurement notice was published on Spain’s Public Sector Contracting Platform on 8 October 2026.
What could change in the Arrecife Three Kings Parade?
The council is inviting companies to submit proposals that combine value for money with a strong artistic and practical plan. The assessment will consider the design and features of the floats, lighting and how the event will be delivered. Potential improvements include a dedicated float for older residents, additional street performers and a larger quantity of sweets distributed along the route.
These are possibilities being considered through the tender, rather than confirmed additions to the final parades. The successful organiser and the final programme will determine what spectators can expect in each year.
Why the Three Kings Parade matters in Lanzarote
The Cabalgata de Reyes is one of the most anticipated events of the Spanish festive calendar. Held on the eve of Epiphany, on 5 January, the parade welcomes the Three Kings—Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar—with decorated floats, music and performers. For many children, it is a highlight of the Christmas holidays, while families and visitors gather along the streets to enjoy the atmosphere and the traditional distribution of sweets.
Arrecife’s parade is an opportunity for visitors staying elsewhere on the island to experience a local tradition and see the capital at a particularly lively time of year. Anyone planning a winter break in Lanzarote should check official announcements closer to the dates for confirmed routes, timings, road closures and any access arrangements.
Tender deadline: what happens next?
Companies interested in organising the Arrecife Three Kings Parades for 2027 and 2028 have until 26 October 2026 at 13:00 Canary Islands time to submit their bids electronically. The council says planning early should help prepare the event in good time.
At this stage, the tender is a step towards organising the next two editions; it is not yet a final announcement of parade routes, schedules or the company that will deliver them. Residents and tourists should look out for updates from Arrecife City Council as the planning progresses.
