CANARY ISLANDS APPLIANCE VOUCHERS: NEW ROUND OF HELP DUE ON 19 OCTOBER
Households in Lanzarote may have another opportunity to save money on energy-efficient appliances, with a new round of vouchers under the Canary Islands Government’s Plan Renove de Electrodomésticos scheduled to open on Monday, 19 October 2026.
The scheme is designed to help residents replace older household appliances with more energy-efficient models. It also aims to reduce electricity use, support participating local retailers and ensure that old appliances are disposed of through authorised recycling channels.
WHAT HAS THE SCHEME ACHIEVED SO FAR?
Figures published on 16 October show that, across the Canary Islands, 4,547 vouchers had been redeemed by 15 October, with a total value of €803,790. The overall budget allocated to vouchers is €1.6 million. The programme had 217 participating shops across the archipelago at the time of the update.
The reported figures also estimate that the appliances replaced so far could save around 476,183 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and avoid approximately 262.4 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions annually. These are technical estimates, rather than a guarantee of the savings any individual household will make.
WHICH APPLIANCES ARE INCLUDED?
The scheme covers specified categories of appliance, including:
• Combi refrigerators
• Dishwashers
• Washing machines
• Tumble dryers
• Induction hobs
The appliance must meet the programme’s requirements, including the relevant energy-efficiency criteria. Check the official scheme platform and participating retailer listings before choosing a product, as not every model will necessarily qualify.
HOW MUCH CAN RESIDENTS SAVE?
The programme’s published rules provide discounts of up to €250 per appliance for general applicants, with enhanced support of up to €450 per appliance for people who meet the scheme’s vulnerability criteria. The precise voucher amount depends on the appliance and applicable conditions, so the maximum amount should not be assumed for every purchase.
Eligible applicants may be able to renew up to five appliances, subject to the scheme rules and available funds. Applicants seeking the enhanced assistance need to provide the accepted evidence of eligibility through the registration process.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A VOUCHER
The key point is to apply before buying the appliance. Applications are handled online through the official Plan Renove platform:

Once a voucher has been generated, it is valid for 15 calendar days. The buyer must use it at a participating retailer within that period. If it expires unused, it loses its validity and the reserved funds can return to the programme.
The discount is applied as part of the purchase at the participating shop. The process also requires the old appliance being replaced to be handed over for authorised waste management. Do not assume that buying an appliance first and applying afterwards will qualify for the discount.
WHY IT MATTERS FOR LANZAROTE
Electricity costs are an important household expense, and older appliances can use more energy than modern, efficient alternatives. For residents planning to replace a fridge, washing machine or other eligible appliance, a voucher may help reduce the upfront cost while supporting more efficient energy use.
The scheme can also direct spending towards participating shops in the Canary Islands. However, demand has been high and the availability of vouchers may change quickly. A new round is scheduled for Monday, 19 October, but residents should confirm the live status, eligible products, participating stores and remaining funds on the official platform before making plans.
A practical tip: compare the appliance’s energy label and running costs, check the exact voucher conditions, and arrange the purchase promptly if a voucher is approved. Remember that the 15-day validity period begins when the voucher is generated.
