Car Leaves Road and Strikes Palm Tree on Arrecife’s LZ-3 Highway
A single-vehicle road traffic incident caused disruption on the LZ-3 ring road in Arrecife on Thursday morning after a car left the carriageway and collided with a palm tree. Emergency services attended the scene to make the vehicle safe and ensure the road could remain open to traffic.
According to information released by emergency responders, the incident occurred at approximately 8:20am on the LZ-3, one of Arrecife’s busiest access routes. Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium were called to assist after receiving an alert from the Civil Traffic Guard.
Photographs from the scene showed the vehicle with significant front-end damage after impacting a palm tree beside the road. Emergency crews completed safety checks before clearing the incident and reopening normal traffic conditions. No official information regarding injuries had been released at the time of writing.
Another Reminder of Road Safety in Lanzarote
While the cause of the crash has not been confirmed, the incident serves as another reminder of the importance of exercising caution on Lanzarote’s roads, particularly during the busy morning commute.
The LZ-3 is a key route linking different parts of Arrecife and often experiences high traffic volumes, especially during peak travel periods. Drivers are advised to remain alert, respect speed limits, and adapt their driving to road and weather conditions.
Spain’s traffic authorities continue to promote the PAS emergency protocol in the event of an accident:
- Protect – Secure the scene and move to a safe location where possible.
- Alert – Contact emergency services via 112.
- Support – Assist injured persons only if it is safe and you have the necessary knowledge to do so.
Road Incidents Remain a Concern Across Lanzarote
Road traffic incidents continue to be reported regularly across Lanzarote, with emergency services frequently responding to vehicles leaving the road, rollovers and collisions on the island’s main highway network. Recent incidents on roads including the LZ-2 and Vía Medular have highlighted the importance of defensive driving and road awareness.
