Complaints Raised Over Water Outage at Papagayo Campsite in Lanzarote
Visitors staying at the popular Papagayo Campsite in Yaiza, Lanzarote, have voiced concerns after reporting a prolonged loss of water supply, leaving campers without one of the site’s most essential services.
According to complaints shared publicly, guests said they had been without running water for much of the day, despite paying for facilities including water and electricity. The reported outage is said to have affected toilets and washing facilities, raising concerns about hygiene during one of the busiest periods of the summer.
Hygiene Concerns at the Campsite
Campers claim that the lack of water has made it increasingly difficult to maintain sanitary conditions. Reports describe toilets becoming unusable as waste could not be flushed, while visitors were unable to wash or access clean water throughout the day.
Several visitors have expressed frustration that they had received little information about when the supply would be restored, leading to uncertainty for families, motorhome users and campers staying on the site.
The complaints have also called for campsite management and the relevant authorities to provide clearer communication and to implement immediate measures to restore normal service.
Not the First Time
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Papagayo Camping Area has faced criticism over essential services. In previous years, visitors have also reported interruptions to water and electricity supplies, along with concerns over maintenance and campsite facilities.
Ahead of this year’s reopening, the Cabildo highlighted improvements to the campsite and confirmed that facilities including water, electricity, cleaning services and security would be available throughout the season.
A Popular Spot for Camping in Lanzarote
Located within the stunning Los Ajaches Natural Monument, the Papagayo Campsite is the only official public campsite on Lanzarote and remains one of the island’s most sought-after outdoor destinations. Its close proximity to the famous Papagayo Beaches makes it particularly popular with residents, caravan owners and visitors looking to enjoy Lanzarote’s natural beauty.
With high demand during the summer months, reliable access to water and sanitation is especially important for maintaining visitor comfort and public health.
Awaiting an Official Response
At the time of writing, the complaints circulating on social media reflect the experiences reported by campers. It remains to be seen whether the campsite management or the relevant authorities will issue an official statement explaining the cause of the interruption or provide details of any corrective measures.
Visitors planning to stay at the campsite are advised to check for the latest updates before travelling.
