Firefighters called to help remove deceased person from home in Mancha Blanca, Lanzarote

Firefighters from the Lanzarote Consortium for Security and Emergencies were called to a property in Mancha Blanca, Tinajo, on Tuesday after local police requested assistance in removing a deceased person from the home.
The incident happened on 15 September 2026, with the emergency service requested at around 1:07pm at a property on Calle Pico Partido.

FIREFIGHTERS USED LADDER TRUCK TO REACH SECOND FLOOR

The deceased person was located inside a property on the second floor. Because of the difficulties involved in removing the body through the building, firefighters used an autoescala, or ladder platform vehicle, to transfer the person from the second floor down to street level.
The operation involved several emergency and support services.
Members of the Local Police of Tinajo, funeral services and medical personnel from an SIA ambulance were also involved in the operation. Once the work had been completed, the firefighters notified their control centre and CECOES, the Canary Islands emergency coordination service, before returning to their base.

NO FURTHER DETAILS RELEASED

At the time of reporting, no further information had been released about the circumstances surrounding the person's death. The reports available do not provide the person's identity or indicate the cause of death.
The incident took place in Mancha Blanca, in the municipality of Tinajo, an area that has been particularly busy this week because of the celebrations surrounding Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores.

A REMINDER OF THE WORK CARRIED OUT BY LANZAROTE EMERGENCY SERVICES

Although incidents involving deceased people are understandably difficult, operations such as this demonstrate that Lanzarote firefighters are called upon for much more than fires.
The island's emergency teams regularly assist with difficult access situations, rescues, accidents and other situations where specialist equipment is required. In this case, the height and access difficulties at the property meant that the ladder vehicle provided a practical way of moving the deceased person safely from the building.
For both residents and visitors to Lanzarote, the island's emergency services form an important part of the infrastructure supporting the community, working alongside the police, ambulance services and other agencies when assistance is required.
