Four People Taken to Hospital After Multi-Vehicle Accident in Playa Blanca

Four people were injured today following a collision involving three vehicles on the LZ-2 road near Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza, according to information released by emergency services.

The incident prompted a significant emergency response, with ambulances, firefighters and the Guardia Civil attending the scene to assist those involved and secure the area.

Emergency Services Responded Quickly

The Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) dispatched three ambulances to the crash, including one advanced life support vehicle and two basic life support units.

Firefighters also attended to make the accident scene safe and assist emergency crews, while Guardia Civil officers managed traffic and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Four Casualties Transported to Hospital

Medical teams assessed and treated four people at the scene before transferring them to Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa in Arrecife.

The reported injuries included:

  • One woman with a moderate chest injury.
  • One man with a minor neck injury.
  • One woman suffering minor multiple injuries.
  • A fourth casualty with a minor neck injury.

At the time of writing, none of the injuries have been reported as life-threatening.

Traffic Disruption on the LZ-2

The collision temporarily affected traffic on the LZ-2, one of Lanzarote’s busiest roads connecting Arrecife, Yaiza and Playa Blanca. Motorists travelling in the area experienced delays while emergency crews cleared the vehicles and ensured the road was safe.

Drivers are reminded to take extra care on Lanzarote’s roads, particularly during periods of heavier traffic and the busy tourist season.

Investigation Underway

The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation to establish exactly what caused the three-vehicle collision. No further details regarding the circumstances of the accident or the vehicles involved have yet been released.

Authorities have not reported any road closures following the completion of the emergency response.
