LANZAROTE CARNIVAL 2027: CONFIRMED DATES, RESORTS, VILLAGES AND THEMES

If you are planning a holiday to Lanzarote in early 2027, it is worth checking the Carnival calendar now. Carnival is one of the island's biggest annual celebrations, bringing colourful parades, elaborate costumes, live music, dancing, murgas, comparsas and street parties to towns and resorts across Lanzarote.

Shrove Tuesday falls on 9 February 2027, meaning Lanzarote's main Carnival celebrations take place considerably earlier than they did in 2026.

Not every Lanzarote Carnival date has been officially released yet, so it is important to distinguish dates that have actually been announced from provisional listings.

PUERTO DEL CARMEN – 11 TO 14 FEBRUARY 2027

Puerto del Carmen Carnival will take place from Thursday 11 February to Sunday 14 February 2027.

THEME: THE MAGIC OF THE CIRCUS

The 2027 Puerto del Carmen Carnival will have a circus theme, officially announced as “La magia del circo” – The Magic of the Circus. This should provide plenty of scope for colourful costumes, performers, clowns, circus characters, spectacular decorations and imaginative Carnival outfits.

The celebrations will bring the Carnival atmosphere to Puerto del Carmen and the surrounding areas, making this particularly attractive for tourists who want to combine a winter holiday in Lanzarote with one of the island's biggest parties.

Confirmed dates: 11–14 February 2027
Theme: The Magic of the Circus
Location: Puerto del Carmen, Tías

COSTA TEGUISE AND LA VILLA DE TEGUISE – 15 TO 21 FEBRUARY 2027

The Teguise municipality has announced a full week of Carnival activity, with celebrations in Costa Teguise and La Villa de Teguise from Monday 15 February to Sunday 21 February 2027.

WHAT WILL THE THEME BE?

The final theme was still awaiting an official announcement at the time of writing. Teguise invited residents to choose from four options:
• Tropicalia, sabor a Carnaval
• Latidos de África – Beats of Africa
• Steampunk, la fábrica del tiempo – Steampunk, The Factory of Time
• Un Carnaval de locura, Teguise en el País de las Maravillas – A Carnival of Madness, Teguise in Wonderland

The public voting period ran from 21 September until 2 October 2026. The winning theme should not be presented as confirmed until the municipality announces the result.

Confirmed dates: 15–21 February 2027
Theme: To be announced
Location: Costa Teguise and La Villa de Teguise

LA GRACIOSA – 4 TO 7 MARCH 2027

The Carnival of La Graciosa is scheduled for Thursday 4 March to Sunday 7 March 2027. La Graciosa's Carnival traditionally takes place later than many of the island's main celebrations, extending the Carnival season into March.

Confirmed dates: 4–7 March 2027
Theme: To be announced
Location: La Graciosa

PLAYA BLANCA – 4 TO 7 MARCH 2027

Playa Blanca Carnival will take place from Thursday 4 March to Sunday 7 March 2027.

THEME: LATIN RHYTHMS

The 2027 Playa Blanca Carnival will be inspired by “Ritmos latinos” – Latin Rhythms. The theme should bring opportunities for vibrant colours, Latin music and dance-inspired costumes.

The main parade of masked groups, floats and dance groups is scheduled for Saturday 6 March, although the full programme of individual events will be announced later.

Confirmed dates: 4–7 March 2027
Theme: Latin Rhythms
Main parade: Saturday 6 March
Location: Playa Blanca, Yaiza

ARRECIFE – THE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS

Arrecife is home to one of Lanzarote's biggest Carnival celebrations, and its 2027 theme has been chosen.

THEME: THE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS

Residents chose “Las mil y una noches” – The Thousand and One Nights – as the official allegory for Arrecife Carnival 2027. It received 32.06% of the votes, beating “Carnaval Marinero”, which received 23.21%.

The Arabian Nights-inspired theme could bring imagery such as magical lamps, genies, sultans, princesses, flying carpets and colourful, exotic designs.

The full 2027 Arrecife Carnival dates had not yet been officially published at the time of writing. Dates should be added once the city council publishes its programme.

Theme: The Thousand and One Nights
Dates: Official dates still to be announced

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER TOWNS AND VILLAGES?

Several other Lanzarote municipalities were still preparing their 2027 Carnival programmes at the time of writing. These include Haría, San Bartolomé, Playa Honda, Tinajo, Tías town and other smaller local celebrations.

Some websites may list possible dates, but these should be treated as unconfirmed until the relevant town hall publishes its official programme. Dates can vary between municipalities, and individual programmes may be announced later.

PLANNING A CARNIVAL HOLIDAY IN LANZAROTE?

If you are visiting Lanzarote specifically for Carnival, February and early March 2027 could be an excellent time to come. The first confirmed celebrations currently begin in Puerto del Carmen on 11 February, followed immediately by the week-long Carnival celebrations in Costa Teguise and La Villa de Teguise.

At the beginning of March, Carnival moves south to Playa Blanca, while La Graciosa holds its celebrations at the same time.

For tourists, Carnival is a chance to experience another side of Lanzarote. Alongside its beaches, volcanic landscapes and sunshine, the island offers music, costumes, humour and local traditions.

If you plan to attend one of the major parades, booking accommodation and flights early is sensible, particularly around the Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca dates.

MORE DATES WILL BE ADDED

The Lanzarote Carnival calendar is still being finalised. As town halls release their official programmes, this guide can be updated with the remaining Carnival dates, parades, Carnival queens, drag galas, children's events, concerts and traditional celebrations.

Lanzarote Carnival 2027 is already taking shape – and with the circus, Latin rhythms and Arabian Nights among the themes announced so far, it looks set to be a colourful season.
