Lanzarote Community Rallies to Support Venezuela Earthquake Victims
An urgent humanitarian appeal has been launched in Arrecife to collect essential supplies for those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.
The disaster has left thousands of families facing unimaginable hardship, with widespread damage to homes, hospitals and vital infrastructure. Rescue and recovery efforts are continuing, while communities urgently need basic medical supplies, hygiene products and other everyday essentials.
Lanzarote is home to a significant Venezuelan community, and many residents have close family and friends living in the affected areas. Local volunteers have now organised a collection point where island residents and visitors can donate much-needed items to be shipped directly to those in need.
What Can You Donate?
The appeal is asking for donations including:
- Pain relief and basic medicines
- Bandages, sterile dressings and first aid supplies
- Personal hygiene products
- Adult and baby nappies
- Baby formula, baby food and feeding bottles
- Blankets, bed sheets and shoes
- Torches, work gloves and heavy-duty rubbish bags
Organisers have stressed that cash donations are not being accepted, and they are also asking people not to donate general clothing, as enough clothing has already been provided through other organisations.
Where to Donate
Donations can be taken to the Venezolanas Unidos office on Calle Bolivia 9, Arrecife, opposite the Mercedes-Benz showroom behind the Shell petrol station at the Cruz Roja roundabout.
The collection point is open daily from 10:00am until 9:00pm, making it easy for people to drop off donations throughout the day.
Every Contribution Makes a Difference
Whether you’re a resident of Lanzarote or simply enjoying a holiday on the island, even a small donation can help provide comfort and practical support to families whose lives have been turned upside down.
Lanzarote has a long tradition of coming together in times of crisis, and organisers hope the island’s community spirit will once again shine through as aid is gathered for those who need it most.
