Lanzarote launches €500,000 Consume Lanzarote scheme for 2026

A new round of the popular Consume Lanzarote scheme has been approved, giving shoppers in Lanzarote and La Graciosa the chance to stretch their spending power while supporting local businesses.

The Cabildo de Lanzarote and La Graciosa has allocated €500,000 to the 2026 edition of the Bonos Consume Lanzarote, an initiative designed to encourage people to spend with small businesses and local establishments rather than sending their money away from the island.

HOW DO THE CONSUME LANZAROTE VOUCHERS WORK?

Each digital voucher has a value of €60, but the customer pays only €30. The remaining €30 is funded by the Cabildo.

Each person will be able to buy up to six vouchers. That means someone buying the maximum allocation would pay €180 but have up to €360 available to spend at participating businesses.

The scheme effectively doubles the value of the customer's contribution while directing additional spending towards Lanzarote's local economy.

WHERE CAN THE LANZAROTE VOUCHERS BE USED?

The Consume Lanzarote vouchers will only be valid at businesses that officially join the 2026 campaign.

The programme is aimed at local businesses and includes eligible activities such as retail, certain food and catering businesses, hairdressers and beauty establishments, subject to the official conditions.

For businesses taking part, the current rules set a maximum subsidised amount of €6,000 per establishment. Fishermen's guilds can have a higher limit of €15,000. Those limits may be increased depending on how the campaign develops and how much funding remains available.

Businesses interested in participating must meet the requirements and complete the official registration process through the digital platform.

WHEN WILL THE CONSUME LANZAROTE 2026 VOUCHERS GO ON SALE?

This is the part shoppers will need to watch closely.

The 2026 programme has now been approved, but the exact dates for consumers to purchase and use the vouchers have not yet been announced. The Cabildo has indicated that the timetable will be communicated after the business application process has been completed and the relevant administrative steps have been carried out.

If you are a Lanzarote resident or visiting the island later in 2026, it is worth checking the official Consume Lanzarote channels before making plans around the vouchers.

WHY IS LANZAROTE BRINGING THE SCHEME BACK?

The aim is to put more spending directly into Lanzarote's small businesses and local economy.

The scheme has already been used in previous years and has proved popular. In the 2025 edition, 12,900 vouchers were made available and the official programme reported that they sold out very quickly. Hundreds of local businesses participated.

An economic impact assessment of the 2025 campaign also reported positive effects for participating businesses, including increased sales and the attraction of new customers.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TOURISTS?

For visitors, the 2026 Consume Lanzarote scheme could provide an opportunity to make holiday spending go further if they meet the programme's purchasing requirements and participating businesses are relevant to their plans.

However, tourists should not assume that every restaurant, shop or attraction will accept the vouchers. They can only be used at participating establishments and the final list of businesses and operating dates will need to be checked once the 2026 campaign is fully launched.

For residents, the potential saving is much more straightforward: paying €30 for a €60 voucher can reduce the cost of eligible purchases while supporting businesses on the island.

A BOOST FOR LOCAL LANZAROTE BUSINESSES

The €500,000 allocation is another significant attempt to encourage local consumption in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

With the maximum six vouchers per person, the programme could give individual consumers up to €360 in spending power for a personal contribution of €180, provided the vouchers are used within the scheme's rules and participating businesses have available capacity.

For local shops, restaurants and other eligible businesses, joining the campaign could also bring new customers who might otherwise spend elsewhere.

The important thing for everyone is to wait for the official 2026 dates and participating-business information before assuming when or where the vouchers can be used.

For now, the message is clear: Consume Lanzarote is returning with another €500,000 injection aimed at helping local businesses and giving shoppers more value for their money.
