Lanzarote Road Accident: Car Crashes Into Safety Barrier Near El Cable

A car left the road during the early hours of Saturday morning near El Cable, on the approach to Arrecife, with emergency crews called to the scene.
A late-night Lanzarote road accident near El Cable has highlighted the importance of taking extra care on the island's roads, particularly during the early hours.
The incident happened at around 1:30am on Saturday, September 12, when a car left the carriageway and collided with a roadside safety barrier in the area of El Cable, close to Arrecife.
Two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Fortunately, both occupants were able to get out of the vehicle without assistance and were assessed by medical personnel at the scene.
Several emergency services attended, including firefighters, Local Police and an ambulance from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC).
The impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle and left debris on the roadway. Firefighters cleared the debris to reduce the risk to other road users and disconnected the vehicle's battery before it was recovered.
Local Police secured the area while the incident was dealt with and began the corresponding report into the circumstances of the collision.
At present, no further details about what caused the driver to lose control have been released in the reports consulted, so it would be premature to speculate about the reason for the crash.

A reminder for anyone driving in Lanzarote

For both residents and visitors, the incident is a reminder that conditions can change quickly when driving around Lanzarote, particularly during the early hours.
The island's main roads are generally straightforward to navigate, but drivers should remain alert, stick to the speed limit and take extra care around junctions, bends and changes in road layout.
This is particularly relevant for tourists hiring a car in Lanzarote who may be unfamiliar with the island's roads and junctions around Arrecife, Playa Honda and the surrounding areas.

For those living in Lanzarote or visiting the island, the message is a simple one: take care on the roads, especially during the quieter hours of the night, and always drive according to the conditions.
