Man Seriously Injured After Arrecife Car Crash Leaves Driver Trapped
A man has been seriously injured following an Arrecife car crash during the early hours of Friday after the vehicle he was driving collided with a tree. The incident prompted a major response from emergency services, with firefighters, paramedics and police all attending the scene.
When crews arrived, they found the driver trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle. Firefighters from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium worked to carefully free him before he was treated by medical personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
After being stabilised at the scene, the man was taken by ambulance to Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries.
Images from the scene show extensive damage to the front of the vehicle following the impact with the roadside tree. The force of the collision left the driver unable to escape without specialist rescue equipment.
The Arrecife car crash remains under investigation, with Local Police securing the area while emergency services carried out the rescue operation. At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the collision have not been confirmed, and there is no indication that any other vehicles were involved.
Road traffic accidents continue to serve as a reminder of the importance of driving with care, particularly during the early hours when visibility can be reduced and driver fatigue may become a factor. Authorities are expected to continue investigating the cause of the collision.
