A REMINDER ABOUT BEACH SAFETY IN LANZAROTE
La Garita is a well-known beach in Arrieta, a coastal village on Lanzarote’s north-east coast. Like other beaches on the island, it is enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout the year. This incident is a reminder that medical emergencies can happen anywhere, including places where people go to relax.
If you see someone collapse or appear seriously unwell, call 112 in the Canary Islands and follow the call handler’s instructions. If the person is unresponsive and is not breathing normally, begin CPR if you can and ask someone nearby to locate an AED. Quick action by witnesses and first responders can be vital while professional medical help is on its way.
