Road Safety Reminder for Residents and Visitors
Road traffic incidents can happen anywhere on the island, including quieter coastal villages such as Arrieta. Whether you’re exploring Lanzarote by hire car, scooter or motorcycle, it’s important to stay alert, observe local speed limits and take extra care at junctions and in built-up areas where vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians often share the road.
Many visitors choose to hire motorcycles or scooters to explore the island, but unfamiliar roads, changing weather conditions and reduced visibility can all increase the risk of accidents. Wearing appropriate safety equipment and driving defensively can help reduce the likelihood of serious injuries.
Authorities have not announced whether any further action will be taken as investigations continue.
