New Smart Parking System to Be Introduced at Two Busy Costa Teguise Car Parks
Drivers visiting Costa Teguise could soon find it much easier to locate a parking space, as a new smart parking system is set to be introduced at two of the resort’s busiest car parks.
The initiative aims to reduce the time motorists spend searching for parking while improving traffic flow around popular areas. The technology is expected to become operational within the next few weeks.
Which Car Parks Will Be Included?
The first phase of the project will cover the car parks at:
- Apartamentos Celeste
- Las Cucharas Shopping Centre
Both locations are among the busiest parking areas in Costa Teguise, serving local businesses, restaurants, beaches and tourist accommodation throughout the year.
How Will the Smart Parking System Work?
The new system will use cameras and monitoring technology to detect whether parking spaces are occupied or available.
Large electronic information boards will display the number of free spaces in real time, allowing drivers to see parking availability before entering the car park.
The aim is to:
- Reduce congestion caused by vehicles circling for parking.
- Save drivers time.
- Improve the overall visitor experience.
- Help traffic move more efficiently during busy periods.
Good News for Tourists and Residents
Finding parking in Costa Teguise can be challenging during school holidays, weekends and major events, particularly near Las Cucharas Beach.
By providing live parking information, visitors may be able to decide immediately whether to enter a car park or continue to another location, reducing unnecessary traffic and frustration.
Residents should also benefit from shorter queues and improved access to local businesses.
Part of a Smarter Lanzarote
Smart parking technology is becoming increasingly common in tourist destinations around the world as local authorities look for ways to improve mobility without creating additional parking spaces.
If successful, the Costa Teguise project could provide a model for similar systems elsewhere in Lanzarote in the future.
For now, motorists visiting the resort can expect the new parking guidance system to be introduced over the coming weeks
