Night Rescue for Injured Hiker Between Puerto Calero and Playa Quemada
Emergency services carried out a night time rescue operation after a hiker was injured on a coastal trail between Puerto Calero and Playa Quemada in southern Lanzarote.
Firefighters and rescue teams were called to the scene after reports that the walker had suffered injuries in a difficult-to-access area along the popular coastal hiking route.
Photos from the incident showed emergency crews working late into the evening with rescue vehicles and specialist lighting equipment as they navigated the rugged volcanic terrain.
The coastal path between Puerto Calero and Playa Quemada is well known among tourists and locals for its spectacular sea views and dramatic volcanic scenery. However, uneven surfaces, loose rocks and low visibility after sunset can make sections of the route hazardous, particularly for inexperienced walkers.
Lanzarote Emergency services regularly remind hikers visiting Lanzarote to take basic safety precautions before setting out on remote trails. Recommended measures include wearing suitable walking shoes, carrying enough water, taking a fully charged mobile phone and avoiding isolated routes after dark whenever possible.
Visitors are also encouraged to check weather conditions and let somebody know their intended route before starting longer walks in remote areas of the island.
After several hours of coordinated rescue efforts, the injured hiker was brought to safety. No further information about the extent of the injuries has yet been released.
