Six People Injured After Vehicle Leaves Road Near Conil
Six people were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in left the road near Conil, in the municipality of Tías, on Thursday evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the road between Conil and Tegoyo at around 9:55pm on 16 July after receiving reports of a single-vehicle accident. Firefighters, paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and officers from the Guardia Civil responded to the incident.
By the time emergency crews arrived, all six occupants had managed to leave the vehicle without assistance. Although none were trapped inside, each was assessed at the scene before being taken to Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital in Arrecife for further medical checks.
Firefighters secured the damaged vehicle by disconnecting the battery and ensuring the area was safe while medical teams treated those involved. The Guardia Civil remained at the scene to manage the incident and begin enquiries into what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
The accident resulted in one young girl sustaining minor injuries, while the remaining five occupants were reported to have suffered injuries of a moderate nature. All were transported to hospital as a precaution.
The circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been confirmed, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
Residents and visitors are reminded to take extra care when driving on Lanzarote’s rural roads, particularly after dark, as visibility can be reduced and roads may feature sharp bends and uneven terrain.
