Traffic Accidents in Arrecife and Costa Teguise Keep Emergency Services Busy in Lanzarote
Emergency services in Lanzarote responded to two separate traffic accidents on Thursday, 4 June, in Arrecife and Costa Teguise, resulting in injuries and road safety operations in both locations.
The first incident occurred during the morning in Costa Teguise when a vehicle overturned on Avenida de las Palmeras. Emergency responders were called to the scene after reports that a car had flipped onto its roof. The driver, a 44-year-old man, managed to exit the vehicle before firefighters arrived and was treated by medical personnel at the scene before being transferred to Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa for further assessment.
Following the rescue and medical response, firefighters worked to return the vehicle to its normal position and clear the roadway. Emergency crews also dealt with an oil spill and removed debris left behind by the accident to ensure the road could be safely reopened to traffic.
Later that evening, emergency services were called to another traffic accident in Arrecife involving a motorcycle and a car. The collision occurred at approximately 10:30pm and left the motorcyclist injured. The rider was attended to by medical personnel and transported to hospital for treatment.
According to emergency reports, firefighters assisted by securing the area, disconnecting the motorcycle’s battery and carrying out road-cleaning operations after oil was spilled onto the carriageway during the collision. The clean-up operation was completed within a short period to reduce the risk of further incidents.
Both accidents highlight the importance of road safety across Lanzarote as traffic levels increase during the summer season. Authorities have not yet released further information regarding the causes of either collision, and investigations remain ongoing.
