Residents and visitors travelling around Yaiza and the south of the island are reminded to:
- Drive within the speed limits.
- Take extra care on bends and rural roads.
- Avoid distractions while driving.
- Always wear seatbelts.
- Allow extra stopping distance during periods of strong wind or poor visibility.
Advice for Tourists Driving in Lanzarote
Many visitors choose to hire a car to explore attractions including Playa Blanca, Timanfaya National Park, El Golfo and Los Hervideros. If you’re unfamiliar with the island’s roads, take your time, particularly on winding sections and when encountering roundabouts.
Fortunately, in this incident, both injured occupants were able to receive prompt medical attention, highlighting the rapid response provided by Lanzarote’s emergency services.
